Meet new Event Sales
Coordinator Leslie Graham
S
pending 10 years in the meet-
ings and events industry has
helped prepare Leslie Graham
for her new role as Event Sales Coor-
dinator at Indian Wells Golf Resort.
It's a job that will keep the former
fitness trainer on her toes.
Graham's responsibilities include
coordinating all the details for private
functions, corporate meetings and
special events, as well as developing
relationships in the community and
promoting the opportunities that the
facility has to offer in the Coachella
Valley.
Here's what she had to say about
her new role at Indian Wells, which
began on September 2:
What are you looking forward to
most? The people, the facility, and the
challenge. Did I mention the
weather? The IWGR staff are amaz-
ing people with strong work ethics
and dedication, and are highly self-
motivated to provide top-notch serv-
ice and products to their customers.
I am proud to be joining a facility
and team like IWGR.
What experience do you bring with
you to your new role? Ten years of
event coordination and planning for
corporate, private and community
events in both Canada and Hawaii.
What is your greatest strength on
the job? Being able to be proactive,
multi-tasking and planning for last-
minute changes. I love challenges and
thinking outside of the box. Plus, I
genuinely care about people and
what they want for their events.
What one word would you use to
describe yourself? Outgoing. My nat-
ural love for life and people is conta-
gious when you get to know me. I
give it my all, and on event day I am
there for my people.
What might someone be surprised
to know about you? In the fitness in-
dustry, I've trained more than 1,000
clients with the YMCA, U.S. Marine
Corps, and private fitness centers.
I've also worked as an Auxillary Po-
lice Officer for the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police, and as a talent agent
for bands, comics, and specialty acts.
What do you like to do when you
aren't working? Cycling along bike
paths and taking in the beauty while
getting some exercise.
What words or phrase do you most
overuse? "Not a problem, we can
make that happen."
What do you consider your great-
est achievement? In the last seven
years as the Special Events Coordina-
tor at British Columbia Institute of
Technology, I was able to sell, coordi-
nate and implement more than 3,000
individual events, and worked with
more than 400 different clients from
companies such as Microsoft, UPS,
McDonald's, and the 2010 Olympic
Committee.
"My natural
love for life
and people is
contagious. I
am sincere
and genuine
and willing
to go the
extra mile."
