Director of Agronomy Jonas Conlan explains
why now is the best time of year to tee it up
W
hen it comes to teeing it up for a round of golf
in the Coachella Valley, there's no better time
than the present. Just ask Indian Wells Golf Re-
sort's Director of Agronomy Jonas Conlan.
"In my opinion, the best thing about playing our golf
courses this time of year is the weather and conditions
combined," Conlan said. "There's probably nowhere in
the country where you can count on such perfect playing
conditions. The temperatures are in the mid-70s and low-
80s for the most part right now, and the courses are in
great shape. It's a perfect time to play."
We recently visited with Conlan to learn more about
the Celebrity and Players courses and the work that is in-
volved in keeping the two championship layouts up to
par during peak season.

this year to allow the Bermuda grass to go dormant. What
do you think of the new look? Personally I'm a big fan of
the look, as well as the way it plays. I've played the course
a couple of times since overseeding in the fall, and twice
