TWO-BALL EVENT
T
he Desert Two-Ball Challenge
is back for the seventh con-
secutive year this spring, and
the April 20-22 tournament will
once again let golfers test their
games over 54 holes on three spec-
tacular Troon-managed golf courses
across the Coachella Valley.
Friday will feature a two-ball
scramble on the Pete Dye Course at
the Westin Mission Hills, Saturday a
better-ball format at Classic Club
and Sunday a shamble on the Play-
ers Course at Indian Wells.
Registration will open online in
September.
"Hosting tournaments
like the the Desert Two-Ball
Challenge adds a lot to what
we can provide for our guests,"
said Michael Tebbetts, the Director
of Sales and Marketing at Indian
Wells Golf Resort. "There's always
great weather in the spring, and this
event is a great value."
A
popular annual golf event re-
turns to Indian Wells Golf Re-
sort this winter, as the Fourth
Annual Indian Wells Pro-Am, pre-
sented by the City of Indian Wells, will
be held Feb. 2-3 on the Players Course.
The unique tournament combines
four amateurs and a pro in each
group, with the pros competing for a
$10,000 purse ($3,000 goes to the win-
ner) and the amateurs vying for prizes
that include stay-and-play trips to
some of North America's top destina-
tions – TPC Sawgrass, TPC Scottsdale,
TPC San Antonio, the Fairmont
Whistler and more.
Pros will compete in stroke play,
while amateurs will play a Two Best
Ball Shamble and can use their profes-
sional's score on any hole but aren't
required to. The pros can also compete
in a $3,500 skins game.
The festivities begin Friday, Feb. 2,
with a pro-am reception and mixer at
the Vue Grille & Bar, followed by an
11 a.m. shotgun Saturday and an
awards party with hosted food and
beverage to wrap up the day.
All amateurs receive a Titleist/
FootJoy gift card and other tee prizes.
Teams can sign up online starting in
mid-September.
The Super Bowl weekend tourna-
ment is a fun and festive occasion, and
has quickly become a favorite among
Coachella Valley locals and the many
snowbirds who call the Valley home
during the winter months.
"The Invitational has enjoyed
success because it is great for pros
and amateurs alike," said Director
of Golf Joe Williams. "For those who
like to compete, having prizes worth
playing for makes it a much more ful-
filling experience."
