G
olf is generally considered to
be an individual sport, but it
can also be played as part of a
team – and Indian Wells Golf Resort
has two events on the calendar where
golfers can pair up for a little friendly
competition.
The first is the Desert Two Ball
Challenge, which will be held April
21-23 at three Troon Golf-managed
properties in the Coachella Valley, in-
cluding the Pete Dye Course at Westin
Mission Hills, Classic Club, and the
Celebrity Course at Indian Wells.
The registration fee for the competi-
tion is $598 per two-player team and
includes three rounds of golf with a
different format at each course, cart,
great prizes, tee gifts, and an awards
banquet following play.
The next event is a qualifier for the
Troon Challenge, an annual event
where two-player teams compete
against each other at some of the top-
rated Troon Golf-managed courses in
the country. The qualifier at Indian
Wells will be held on the Celebrity
Course on Saturday, June 17, and the
top net and gross teams will advance
to the Troon Challenge National
Finals set for Aug. 25-27.
The finals consist of 36 holes of
competition on the North Course
at the Boulders in Carefree, Ariz.,
and the Pinnacle Course at Troon
North Golf Club in Scottsdale.
Entry fee for the Indian Wells quali-
fier is $190 per two-player team and in-
cludes golf, cart, range balls and more.
