A TEE
TIME
Verticutting the grasses is also
another important step in the
process. The goal when we begin
aerifying is to have as much
healthy Bermuda grass already
present as possible to ensure a suc-
cessful transition.
Once we've finished the process
on each course, we'll edge the cart
paths and sand traps, double
checking to make sure
everything is looking and
playing fantastic.
When we reopen, our
objective is to be the best
we can be!

Perfect practice: An-
other exciting project
we're working on in-
volves the back practice
area, which is primarily used by
our golf professionals to give les-
sons. The three things we're focus-
ing on include creating a larger
practice tee, a better teaching sand
trap, and an additional putting
green.
Currently, we have the new
green and bunker 50 percent
shaped and plan on finishing up
these improvements in June. When
completed, the tee area will more
than double in size, and there will
be a multitude of short-grass chip-
ping areas around the two practice
greens.

Backup plan: Lastly, we've
begun the process of creating a
nursery green for the Celebrity
Course that will allow us to have
quality greens-grade turf grass on
property in case we ever need it.
The green will be located to the
left of the tee complex on No. 11
and adjacent to the tees on holes
16 and 17.
We're currently shaping the area
and cleaning up nearby landscap-
ing as we will use turf plugs from
the Celebrity Course aerification as
our base for the green.
Of course, a lot of other minor
repair and maintenance projects
will take place over the summer,
but it will all be worthwhile when
the Players and Celebrity courses
reopen and conditions reach their
peak this fall.
