THE COURSES
BOOK
A
TEE
TIME
A lot of planning and schedul-
ing goes into every day, and there
are times we need to make modifi-
cations to ensure we get every-
thing done that needs to get done.
For the most part, during the first
few hours of the morning, we
spend time preparing the courses.
Here is a little insight to what
we do during that time:
> Every morning we hold brief
meetings to discuss the schedules
and explain in detail what we are
planning to do for the day. Once
that is done, the staff heads out to
begin the process.
> The holes are changed and the
greens are mowed every day, the
tees and fairways are mowed three
times per week and the rough on
the Celebrity Course is continu-
ously mowed during the week.
> We also have to prepare the
sand traps and keep them looking
nice. They are touched up on a
daily basis and fully raked two-
three times per week. This is quite
a daily task for the morning prep,
and usually there are other things
that pop up, or need to be ad-
dressed, prior to the first tee times.
> Once those jobs are complete,
we focus our efforts on "second
jobs," which could be anything
from cleaning flower beds and
landscape areas to mowing the
driving range or Shots in the Night
greens.
With such a large facility, we
keep busy nonstop everyday with
things to work on. It's challenging,
but when we put forth the effort
and we see such a nice product, all
the hard work is worth it.
The payoff is that the golf
courses are both in great shape
and every season we look forward
to this time of year because all of
our overseeding efforts are real-
ized, and the golf courses begin to
shine.
It's a great time to come out and
play golf. We look forward to see-
ing everyone on the courses and
enjoying the beauty of Indian
Wells Golf Resort.
