B
ack for the fifth consecutive
year, the Indian Wells Pro-
Am Invitational is scheduled
for Friday and Saturday, February
1-2 at Indian Wells Golf Resort.
Once again the event falls on Super
Bowl weekend, giving golfers the
opportunity to participate in one of
the most fun competitions of the
year before settling in the following
day to watch the big game.
The event matches four amateurs
with a professional in each group
with more than just pride on the
line. Amateurs will compete for
spectacular prizes, while the pros
play for a $10,000 purse, $3,000 of
which goes to the winner.
Michael Block, who shot a 7-
under-par 65 last year to win the
professional division by one stroke,
is expected to return and defend his
title, and amateur champions Don
Saretsky, Zack McLeod, John Meg-
giolaro and Don Dierenger will also
tee it up in 2019.
Presented by the City of Indian
Wells, the event kicks off with a
pro-am reception and mixer on
February 1. Amateurs then enjoy a
first-class experience that includes a
gift card for Titleist-FootJoy's mo-
bile shop, tee gifts, live music, and
an awards reception that features a
highlight video along with hosted
food and beverages.
Teams posting the lowest scores
in the Two Best Ball Shamble format
are also eligible to win stay-and-
play packages at a number of top
Troon golf courses around the coun-
try such as The Rocks, Troon North
and Whistler.
The competition tees off February
2 in an 11 a.m. shotgun, and four-
somes can be purchased for $1,600.
