T he list of awards for In- dian Wells Golf Resort continues to grow, and the property's latest accolades come courtesy of its environ- mental friendliness. Indian Wells received the "Community Environmental Award" from the California Golf Course Owners Associa- tion for demonstrating excel- lence in the area of Environ- mental Stewardship. "We are proud to be the re- cipient of the 2017 award," said General Manager Steve Rosen. "Our team at Indian Wells Golf Resort proves it is definitely possible to be a great golf course while still being good stewards of the land." Some of the criteria for the award included reducing use of water or electricity, having an efficient and convenient re- cycling program in place for managing waste on course and in the clubhouse, encour- aging on-site natural habitats for birds and other small an- imals, and increasing cit- izen awareness on how golf courses are "friends of the environ- ment" and how golfers can support stewardship efforts. The award was an- nounced on Nov. 8.
