$10,000 UP FOR GRABS
PRO0AM RETURNS TO INDIAN WELLS
ON SUPER BOWL WEEKEND IN 2018
I
t will be a weekend to remember at Indian Wells Golf Resort on
Feb. 2-3, 2018. Those are the dates of the Fourth Annual Indian
Wells Pro-Am, set to kick off the same weekend as the NFL's
Super Bowl, which is always an event to celebrate at Vue Grille & Bar.
Presented by the City of Indian Wells, the Pro-Am combines four
amateurs and a professional in each group. The pros compete for a
$10,000 purse and amateurs can win great prizes, including stay-and-
play packages to some of North America's top destinations.
A reception and mixer for the Pro-Am will take place on Friday,
Feb. 2, and the tournament will begin with an 11 a.m. shotgun on
Saturday, Feb. 3, followed by an awards party with food and bever-
ages. CLICK HERE for more information or to sign up.
TEST YOUR TEAM IN THE TWO0BALL CHALLENGE APRIL 20022
It's not to early to start planning a Spring fling to the Coachella Val-
ley as the Desert Two-Ball Challenge will return April 20-22, 2018.
The seventh-annual event features multiple formats with two-
player teams over 54 holes on three Troon Golf-managed properties,
including Indian Wells Golf Resort, The Westin Mission Hills and Clas-
sic Club. CLICK HERE for more information or to sign up.
EIGHT NEW GOLFBOARDS AVAILABLE FOR FAIRWAY FUN
Indian Wells Golf Resort has doubled its fleet of GolfBoards to
eight and is now renting the units year-round so golfers can experi-
ence a new and unique way to traverse the turf. With GolfBoards,
golfers can cruise the terrain of the golf course as if they were surfing
or snowboarding. CLICK HERE for more information.
T
he annual fall overseed is in full
swing at Indian Wells Golf Resort and
the project promises to ensure pris-
tine conditions throughout the golf season,
which runs from November through April.
Work began on the Players course in late
September and the track will re-open for
play Friday, Oct. 13, with cart-path only
rules in effect through Thursday, Nov. 9.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 16, overseeding
will begin on the Celebrity course, with a
scheduled completion date of Thursday,
Nov. 2. When the course re-opens, it will be
cart-path only through Wednesday, Nov. 22.
The overseeding process at Indian Wells
involves replacing the summer-tolerant
Bermuda grass with cool-weather friendly
rye, which is known for its lush, emerald-
green hue and picture-perfect lies.
One twist to this year's project is that
while the Celebrity course will be over-
seeded with rye grass from tee to green, the
rough on the Players course will not be over-
seeded. This will allow the Bermuda to go
dormant from December through early Feb-
ruary in order to create a unique contrasting
look with vibrant green tees, fairways and
greens set against the light brown rough.
