G
olfers of all skill levels will be
able to gain valueable insight
into their game during a spe-
cial event at Indian Wells Golf Resort
on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The resort is offering a free, hands-
on experience with some of the most
innovative technology in the golf
world in a one-on-one environment
with PGA Lead Teaching Professional
Eric Solander and Dr. Lynn Beasley,
who has her Doctorate in Sport &
Performance Psychology, her Mas-
ter's in Kinesiology and Biomechan-
ics, and extensive experience as a
strength coach, nutritionist and for-
mer professional golfer.
"Dr. Beasley really knows biome-
chanics, a key component of under-
standing your body and how it moves
through the swing," said Solander.
"Her equipment, which we'll be
demonstrating, can capture data that
can't be picked up by the naked eye."
Dr. Beasley will be sharing her
broad knowledge of golf as she
demonstrates and helps golfers try
out the FocusBand, BodiTrak Sports
and 3D Motion Capture, three of
golf's newest and most innovative
teaching technologies.
"These tools were designed to help
instructors gather data," said Solan-
der. "FocusBand is for the mental
game, BodiTrak measures how
golfers transfer their weight and
movement of their bodies through the
swing and 3D Motion Capture meas-
ures the sequence of the golf swing
and provides data that pinpoints key
swing issues."
The Demo Day – designed to help
beginners start to build healthy swing
habits and advanced players gain a
better understanding of their
swings – will be held from 10 a.m.-
2 p.m.. Attendees can sign up in ad-
vance in 15-minute increments by
calling the Golf Shop. Solander rec-
ommends golfers bring their own
clubs and wear golf attire, as this will
facilitate the most accurate readings
when they use the equipment.
"These tools can be beneficial for
all levels of golfers," Beasley said.
"The idea behind all the tools and the
evaluations that I do is it takes all the
guesswork out. We can find out ex-
actly what's going on with your
swing and movement, rather than re-
lying on naked eye observations that
can be hit or miss."
