The resort's Celebrity Course and Players Course have just come out of their annual fall over- seeding process, and thanks to a num- ber of other off-season improvements, the two tracks are primed and ready to wel- come guests during their busiest time of the year. "Here at Indian Wells, we always want to make sure we're staying ahead of things and providing the best possi- ble experience for our guests," said Joe Williams, PGA Director of Golf at In- dian Wells. "Summer is usu- ally one of our slowest times, but for our maintenance team, it was one of their busiest seasons because of all the improvement projects we took on." During the summer months, the resort's grounds crew renovated all 171 bunkers on the two courses, improving drainage while re- placing all the fabric liners and changing out approxi- mately 7,000 tons of sand. The greenside pond on the 18th hole of the Celebrity Course was drained, dredged and refilled, with aeration added to all water features on the courses. The landing area on the par-4 seventh on the Celebrity was enlarged to make the hole play easier. Cart paths throughout the two courses were repaired to address any cracks or uneven surfaces, and dozens of trees lost to a winter storm were replaced. Lastly, on the third hole of the Celebrity Course, flowers were added behind the green to add to the hole's natural beauty, which affords a spectacular view of the San Jacinto Mountains. The two courses were overseeded during the span of 18 days – a very quick turnaround for the process. "We're ready to rock and roll for the season," Williams said. "The courses are right where we want them to be at this time of year. The green speeds are right where they should be, and all the com- ments as people come off the courses have been positive." pEaK CondItIon The Celebrity and Players courses have undergone plenty of off-season upgrades CLICK HERE TO BOOK TEE TIMES AT INDIAN WELLS SAVE A BUNDLE ON YOUR GREEN FEES T he Winter Pre-paid Play- ers Card at Indian Wells is on sale now.
