The California Golf Course Owners Association (CGCOA) last month selected Indian Wells' Celebrity and Players courses as the best in the state. "It's a huge honor for us and a real humbling experience," said Michael Tebbetts, Director of Sales and Marketing at Indian Wells. "It's very gratifying being acknowledged by your peers." Since the redesign of the golf courses in 2006 by renowned ar- chitects Clive Clark and John Fought, Indian Wells has set the standard when it comes to course conditions and maintenance. Owned by the city of Indian Wells and managed by Troon Golf, Indian Wells remained true to its mission of creating extraor- dinary guest and member experi- ences through personalized service, consistency, and uncom- promising attention to detail, ac- cording to the CGCOA. The courses also were lauded for hosting events for local resi- dents, offering discounted green fees to area property owners, and working with the Champions Volunteer Foundation to con- tribute funds to worthy causes in the Coachella Valley. In addition, Indian Wells has created a Junior Golf Academy where children can learn the game in a friendly, fun, and safe environment. With the latest recognition from the CGCOA, Indian Wells will be automatically entered for a shot at the National Course of the Year Award. "This all comes down to player satisfaction and we set the bar high," Tebbetts said. "Now we just need to keep fulfilling that promise as the best course in California."
