A
TEE
TIME
we will begin the overseeding
process on the Celebrity Course.
During the month of September,
both courses played host to major
golf events in the Southern Califor-
nia PGA section. The Players
Course hosted the Southern Califor-
nia Open as well as the Southern
California PGA Section
Championship, both of
which registered phenome-
nal rounds of golf, includ-
ing a new course record 63,
where the individual also
had one bogey on his card.
The Celebrity Course
hosted the Toyota Cup
where the "best of the best"
junior boys and girls played
for two days. The winning scores
were quite impressive with the girls
champion at 6-under and the boys
at 10-under.
All of this happened following an
intense month of August, where
heat and humidity wreaked havoc
in the desert. If you were here, then
you know what I'm talking about as
it was challenging to work, play or
do anything outside for most of the
month. As an agronomist, we plan
for summer projects and hope for
the best when it comes to weather,
but sometimes Mother Nature rules
and we are at her mercy. Challenges
arise, plans go out the window, and
you manage day by day, anticipat-
ing that better conditions will
emerge.
Here's to wishing for a great end
to 2020, and hoping that everyone
can get out and enjoy wonderful
rounds of golf. We will provide re-
lief, spectacular views, and many
good times at the Indian Wells Golf
Resort. Vue Grille & Bar is back
open, Shots in the Night will be
opening soon, and with fingers
crossed, we will get back to what
we're used to.
It is great to see parking lots full
and plenty of golf carts on the
courses. As a turf manager that
seems weird to say because usually
we do not like cart traffic, but right
now I say, "Bring it on."
We look forward to seeing you
out on the fairways!
After overseeding, the Celebrity
Course will be in full bloom.
