fter playing in the Indian Wells
Pro-Am Invitational four times,
warren pineo finally entered
the winner's circle. The PGA
Assistant Golf Professional from Toscana
Country Club fired a 7-under 65 on the
Players Course on Saturday, February 1, to
capture the sixth-annual event – although
the victory required a card-off as Macken-
zie Tour player riley wheeldon also fin-
ished with a 65.
Pineo, who picked up a check for $2,400,
said he's been playing golf at Indian Wells
more frequently and that a better familiar-
ity with the golf course was key his victory.
"I feel more comfortable with the lay-
out," he said. "That definitely helped."
Last year's champion, Indian Wells Golf
Resort's PGA Lead Teaching Professional
Eric solander, finished tied for third place,
three shots back with a 68.
"Indian Wells does a great job running
the tournament every year," Pineo said.
"And the prize money gets professionals
excited to play in a tournament like that."
