Continued >>> course report Book a tee time getting set for summer It's a season of change at Indian Wells By Joe Williams, Director of Golf, and Jonas Conlan, Director of Agronomy W ith our season in the desert winding down and summer ap- proaching, we can expect a few changes in climate – as well as our playing surfaces at Indian Wells Golf Resort. As the temperatures begin to increase, we'll also start to see a transition of our turfgrass from a winter rye to a summer Bermuda. This type of grass can provide an excellent playing surface, but it requires very warm temperatures to thrive. It also is a grass that produces a lot of or- ganic matter in the soils, which is why we choose to aerify during the summer months. u u u mark your calendars The golf maintenance team has scheduled work to be completed over the next two to three months. This allows our team to preform its regularly scheduled projects, but also undertake some new ones as well. Work begins on the Players Course in late June.
