Continued >>> sEAsOn Of ChAngE Transitional period is nearing at IWGR By Joe Williams, Director of Golf, and Jonas Conlan, Director of Agronomy F ollowing some unusually cold and rainy peri- ods earlier this year, we've been blessed with amazing weather the past couple of months. This was no doubt enjoyed by visitors to the Coachella Valley who attended tennis and music festi- vals – and even those who came out to play a little golf. Very soon, however, Mother Nature will turn up the desert heat and our summer transition away from Rye- grass will begin on the golf courses. That means our Bermuda grass base will wake up, go green and take over. Bermuda is the foundation warm-season grass at Indian Wells Golf Resort and it absolutely thrives in triple-digit temperatures. During peak season, the staff spends most of its day maintaining the courses and providing superior condi- tions day in and day out.
